Creating our Reality: No More Starving Artists!

(above painting "Nature of Mind" by Alex Grey)

As artists, we have, by default, a deep connection to our inborn creative energy. This is an energy that all people have, and we all exercise it on a daily basis even if we are not necessarily being “creative” in an artistic sense. Even one who “doesn’t have an artistic bone in their body” (although this is a self-limiting belief that is only true because that is what they believe) is constantly in a state of creating. We are, all of us, creating an image of ourselves that we project outwards. The clothes we wear, the words we speak, the things we decide to put up on our social networking sites…..all of this, every moment of the day, is tapping into our natural powers of creating our realities.

An artist has a unique vantage point in the creation of their reality. Many people are not truly aware or connected to their creative powers, even if they are creating an image of themselves every day. As artists, however, we are very aware of our creative abilities and are constantly seeking ways to express ourselves. So when considering the prospect channeling our powers into deliberately creating our realities, you could say that we are one step ahead of the game.

What does it mean, though, to “create one’s reality”? Although I can’t go into this topic in great detail here, I can sum it up by saying “that which is like unto itself, is drawn.” This is the basis of the Law of Attraction, which is also known to many as “The Secret.” The implications of this are that whatever energy we emit from ourselves – most importantly our thoughts – draws situations of like vibration back into our realities. This can be in the form of a person, an opportunity, an event, an object… the variety is endless. But when you start to truly believe that you are creating your reality by the energy of your thoughts and actions, then you start to harness the true potential of your creative energy.

So as creative individuals, as the artists of our world who are not out-of-touch with the natural human ability to create, we have the opportunity to sculpt our lives, to paint our realities, to write our stories and see them play out before us, to be the great conductors of our lives with an ever-increasing confidence that we have the absolute power to create anything we can imagine. It takes some bit of work to break down our self-imposed barriers that resist the belief that we are the ultimate and limitless creators of our realities, but once you get there then the momentum of the excitement of it all carries you far past your wildest dreams.

Stand up, artists of the world. Take back your power and channel the creativity that you put so tenderly into your art and funnel it equally into making your LIFE what you WANT it to be! An artist is only “starving” if they believe that to be as good as it gets. Take some responsibility for the true direction of your lives and give creating your reality with your thoughts a real, honest effort. Remember that positive thoughts attract positive, and negative attracts negative. If you can spend hours polishing up the details of a painting, you can at least expend a good effort to monitoring your thoughts. Don’t let them run away and get all crazy. Reel them in! Give positive thinking a try, and see how your reality starts to reflect those thoughts. You will be astounded by how true it really is.

I believe that the greatest masterpiece that any of us can create is the very life we are living. An artist does not simply create paintings. An artist has a sense of power and confidence in everything that he or she is creating, including their image, relationships, and daily life. So break out the chisel of positive thinking, bust out the palettes of limitless potential, and start sculpting your life! NO MORE STARVING ARTISTS!

The Way of the Peaceful Artist

The peaceful artist sees all art as beautiful. All art is created because it is loved; it is not truly art if the artist does not love that which he creates. The peaceful artist loves his work. He doesn’t compare it with others in a sense of judgement. His work is not inferior to others, because he loves his work as much as does any artist. His work is not better than another because that undermines the love all artists have for their creations. Therefore, the peaceful artist does not compare his art with others or others with his. To compare creations is to compare love with love; this is impossible because love simply Is, it does not have a value that can be compared and contrasted.

The peaceful artist sees all of life as art. All things that exist are a creation, and nothing can be created that is not loved. If it is not loved then it does not exist, because it has nothing to sustain it. It simply fades away. Even if we ourselves do not love something, if it is in existence then it is loved. The peaceful artist sees this as Truth and does not seek to further complicate this law by further analyzing it. All things that Are are loved. Therefore, everything that exists is art. All of life, then, is art.

The peaceful artist sees everyone as an artist. Everyone is creating. Everyone loves their creations, otherwise they would not exist. We are all creating our lives every moment of the day. Therefore, we are all artists.

The peaceful artist is holistic. He strives to create balance in all aspects of his life. He understands that his greatest masterpiece is his own life, and he tends to it with the greatest detail, precision, passion, and love. As we are all the creators of our lives, the peaceful artist knows that we are all creating masterpieces every moment that we are alive, even in troubled times. Each individual masterpiece is all woven into the ultimate masterpiece, the great Tapestry of Creation.

The peaceful artist knows that each fabric of this great Tapestry is equally loved, blessed, and respected by the greater powers of the universe, and he is comfortable and confident in his unique and individual offering to All that Is.
